A Life Full of Love

Valentine's Day--the day of love. Can you feel the love in the air?! I love holidays, but don't wait for a holiday to show people how much you love & appreciate them. I love how my dad doesn't think Valentine's day is a big deal, because he wants to make my mom feel like a queen every day.

For this post, I thought I'd share with you the things I love most along with my Valentine's inspired outfits.
I love my family. They mean the world to me and it makes me happy that I get to spend eternity with them.
I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The beliefs and standards in it have helped shape me into the person I am today.

I love fashion. There's no better way to express yourself and your style than through fashion.
I love basketball. I can't play any sports but I love watching them! Especially my Dallas Mavericks! MMFL!
I love school. Yeah it sounds a little weird…but this generation is lucky to live in a time where anyone can earn an education to become whatever they want. Through hard work, anything is possible.
I love getting straight A's. It's the Asian coming out of me, but I just can't help it. There's no better feeling.
I love singing and jamming out. It's another great way to express yourself, escape, and relax.
I love shoes. Heels, wedges, ballet flats, boots, sandals--you name it, I love them all, especially heels though. Gotta love an added three or four inches to my height!
I love sewing. There's just such a sense of accomplishment when I finish an article of clothing or I'm able to repair something. (Great money saver too)

I love modesty. You can tell how much someone values themselves by how they're dressed. None of that trashy foolishness.

I love laughing. It's my favorite thing. So bring on the corny jokes and awkward situations.

I love pink and all things sparkly. They're just so pretty.

I hope you've enjoyed getting to know me better through the things I love. I challenge you to use this day to think about what you love!

Cute Meets Comfy

You slept through your alarm, you have a million things to complete on your to-do list, everything's not going as planned, and the harsh weather outside isn't helping. It's definitely a rough morning. Wouldn't rolling out of bed and conquering the world in your pjs sound like the most appealing thing ever? They're just soo comfortable and you just don't have enough time to dress up.

Well, I think we've all had mornings like this! Let me help you out.

The fabulous Tom Ford once said, "Dressing well is a form of good manners."

So let's pull it together and show people our good manners! In this post, I'll show you how to dress cute without much effort.

Tip #1:
One of my favorite things to do--layer! Use embellished sweaters to make up for accessories and throw a vest on top! I paired this olive green embellished sweater with the most comfy black jeggings I own and pulled out my old Chuck Taylors.

This embellished sweater is from Forever 21

Tip #2:
Throw on a fleece zip up!  I love fleece…so much. It's so comfy and it keeps you super warm without too many layers. This outfit is a lot more casual but it's better than just wearing a t-shirt. Style with an accent infinity scarf and you're set to go!

I picked up this oh so fabulous zip up from Old Navy for five dollars

Tip #3:
Dress up plain sweaters with accessories like necklaces! This magenta sweater is comfier than it looks! I got it at H&M

This chunky gold necklace dresses up the sweater making the outfit sweet & simple

Texas pride :)

Well, let's be honest, some mornings, you don't even have the energy to think about putting an outfit together…so rather than changing, cover up. Literally.
Tip #4:
Simply cover up comfy pj tops or whatever you want under a statement coat/jacket. No one will ever know ;)
example one:
I love this purple leather jacket!
 Wait for it...
BAM!
I found this gem of a shirt in the back of my closet. I purposely picked a shirt like this to show you that you can mask it!

 example two:

shhh your secret's safe with me!

example three:

Showing some school spirit for the best high school ever. iVivan los lobos! I loved being a part of Spanish Honor Society. And I love this fashion shortcut.

So the next time you find yourself in a rough morning situation, I hope some of these tips will be useful! Thanks for visiting! Come back soon to see my Valentines Day inspired outfits!

Why less=more

Has your luggage ever been over weight? Do you need some ways to safe space in your closet or carry-on? Do you want to make the most out of your clothes? Making multiple outfits out of a few pieces can be beneficial especially when traveling. From 6 basic clothing essentials, I was able to make over 25 outfits and I'll show you how!

I created all of the outfits from the following basics:

  • Chiffon Dress
  • Pencil Skirt
  • Black Jeans
  • Tank Top
  • Cardigan
  • Chambray Top
To versify the outfits I accessorized with:
  • Black Boots
  • Black Heels
  • Tights
  • Skinny Belt
  • Black Scarf
  • Bold Necklace
  • Pearl Necklace

Whenever I shop, I always think of the versatility of the item. I want to make sure that I'm really getting my moneys worth. If I'm able to wear the article in more than one way, it's definitely a plus.

I love this chiffon pleated dress from Target (and Target in general) because of the fitted waist and the sleeves. I paired the dress with the neon skinny belt as an accent because it pulls out the faint neon in the fabric. This outfit is really easy to dress down with boots or dress up with a pair of heels! And just in case the weather is unpredictable, it's simple to add a scarf, tights, and boots to weather the cold or just add an accent necklace if it's a beautiful day out. I got the dress on sale for around ten dollars.

TA-DA! Just by adding a skirt, you'll get a whole new look! Another fabulous thing about this dress is that you can layer it! I paired it with this neon pencil skirt from J. Crew. The best part is, this skirt used to be around seventy-five dollars, BUT I got it for ten! I love me some sales lemme tell you! The skirt also pulls out the neon from the floral pattern of the dress. AND it has pockets. I love skirts with pockets.

For this round of outfits, I paired the pencil skirt with a tank top and a cheetah print cardigan. I got the cardigan for six dollars at an H&M sale. Isn't it amazing how accessories can make an outfit?!

Next, I paired the pencil skirt with a chambray top. I love chambray tops because there are soo many ways to wear them! And they sell them everywhere now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one for an inexpensive price. On the two far right pictures, I threw the cardigan on top of the chambray and got a more preppy look.

Lastly, for a more casual look, I paired the chambray top with black jeans. Again, you'll find that these outfits can be dressy or casual.

There are endless possibilities of outfits... and I could've gone on and on like wearing the chambray top tucked into the black jeans with the skinny neon belt accessorized with the neon necklace or the black jeans with just the black tank top and cardigan and so on and so forth.

When I was brainstorming outfit ideas, I really pictured myself in a traveling mindset because I know when I travel, I don't want to bring too much, but I want to make sure I have both dressy and casual outfits.

So a few things I hope you'll take from this post:
1. Black jeans are easy to make casual and are also an easy dressy/casual article
2. Accessories make a huge difference and can completely change the look of an outfit
3. Scarfs are practical when weather is unpredictable because its easy to throw on when it's cold, and easy to take off if it gets hot (same goes for tights)
4. Boots are always a nice replacement when you have to dress up, but know you'll be walking a lot or standing for a while.
5. Layer, layer, layer! By layering basics in various ways, you can create an endless amount of outfits :)

I hope the next time you find yourself packing for a business meeting, vacation getaway, or just shopping around, you'll find my tips helpful!
