Smart Shopping

As the summer comes to a close, I find myself taking advantage of wearing as many sun dresses as I can before the cooler weather rolls in! I wanted to share some recent deals I've found in the last few weeks.

I got this floppy hat here and although it's not on sale, I know that I'll be able to use it a lot. When buying accessories, make sure it's something versatile that you know you can wear on multiple occasions

I LOVE this dress because it's simple and so comfy. I bought it a while ago at H&M, but I've found that H&M carries a lot of comfy dresses for a very reasonable price. Here's a similar one

The smartest way to shop is to buy summer clothes in the winter, and winter clothes in the summer. Or in other words, but things in their off season because that's most likely when they'll be on sale.

I got these two tone black and mint leather heels for a STEAL. Seriously. Go find them at Zara here! I love how it combines a classic black shoe with a little bit of a twist with the mint heel

I love me some bling, and when I saw this Vera Wang necklace, I fell in love. (especially since it's on sale here!)

I love pointed toe heels because I think they look so chic. You can wear them anytime of the year no matter if it's hot or cold! Definitely a good addition to any closet

I hope everyone had a fabulous summer, and is ready for all the festivities that come along with fall!

Enjoy your fall wardrobe, but stock up on bathing suits, sandals, and summer clothes!

One more thing: Another thing that's really marked down right now are backpacks. There are some really cute ones for such a cheap price. I found some here, here, and here!

I hope you have a great start this fall & stay warm! I'll see you next time!

Back and at it

Well...after a long & busy spring semester, I finally found some time to get back into the swing of things!

If there's anything I learned in the last few months, it would be busy schedules. I decided to focus this post on articles of clothing you can incorporate into your busy lives that are versatile and easy to style for both casual and dressy events!

I paired this H&M sweater dress with white chucks and layers of gold dainty necklaces for a casual look--comfy and perfect for running errands and other daily activities.

Toss your hair in a simple messy fishtail and you'll be ready to hit the road!
This dress is old, but you can find similar dresses hereherehere (on sale!), and here!

Here's a tip: never judge clothes/shoes by the size it's labeled as--depending on brands and other factors, clothes can run larger or smaller than your usual size! It's best to try things on.

This sweater is actually an extra large, but I wanted to go for an oversized look, and be super comfy :)

The same goes for shoes! I have no shame looking in the kids section of clothes and shoes because the items often run large! I have found some of my best things in kids' sections. Plus, kids' stuff are sooo much cheaper than adult clothing!

I found these white chucks on sale in the kids section here. Converse usually run big, so while I'm usually a 6, I was able to fit into a kids 3.

Last but not least, pair your casual attire with a bright colorful bag that has a dual purpose! Not only can totes add a splash of color to outfits, but they are so functional and provide room for all your daily needs

Here's my favorite Tory Burch tote, but you can find similar ones herehere, and here!

Then, when you're on a time crunch for a night out, you can simply throw a pair of heels on and add a bold necklace

Grab a matching bag, and you'll be ready to paint the town red!

I rolled my sleeves down for a more dressy look and let my hair down for some soft waves (another reason why I love fishtails!)

Here's a necklace similar to the one I'm wearing!

I love, love, love these heels, but couldn't find the exact same pair. Here are some really similar ones though!

I hope you enjoyed this post and found some tips useful! I'd love to hear what you think!
Stop by next time to see some back to school essentials!
See you then!!

Spring with a Dash of Bling

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the wind is howling, and the flowers are blooming. It's one of the most wonderful times of the year--spring!

The perfect weather during this season can give you so much flexibility to wear a variety of clothes without freezing or dying from unbearable heat.

Here's one of my favorite spring ensembles!

I got this Peter Pan collared pink chiffon top from Forever 21 a while back. But here is a similar one. Though it's a longer sleeve, the chiffon makes it so breathable.

I borrowed this fabulous brown leather skirt from my sister, but you can find one here!

An outfit like this can easily be dressed up or down with a pair of heels or sandals/flats.

I love these Jessica Simpson Heels because they're proof that black and brown can be worn together. (Plus, they're on sale!!)

To finish off this outfit I added this statement bling necklace from Forever 21. It was super hard to find a place selling a necklace similar to this one...but here's the closest I could get!

Are you going to an event where you'll be standing for a long time? Bring an extra pair of flats to change into when your feet need a rest! (Beauty is pain, right?)
I love these cheetah print flats that add another element of bling to an outfit!

Come back next time to see one of my favorite, favorite, dresses!
See you soon!!

The Runway…Your Way!

The wise and oh so fabulous Coco Chanel once said that, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." I don't think she could have said it any better…this is what I love about fashion! People are constantly inspired by the things that surround them to create or recreate trends and styles.

While I love incorporating new trends into my wardrobe, there's something that is particularly important to me while doing so: practicality.

FASHION COMEBACKS

I've been recently inspired by fashion week and the new spring collections for 2014. While I'm not an expert at forecasting fashion, here are my predictions of some trends I think are making a comeback!

Tea Length Skirts

If there's something I have learned about fashion, it's that it repeats itself. I feel like tea length skirts are a more modern take on the 1950s poodle skirt. These skirts are so fun and cute to wear!

Can I let you in on a little secret? I was so bummed when I realized I didn't have a tea length skirt until a solution popped up in my head…

This white & black skirt isn't actually a skirt…it's a dress!
I tucked in the top part of the dress and topped it off with a black belt!

By using what was already in my closet, I didn't have to pay a dime to incorporate this trend to my wardrobe!!

I felt like Maria from the Sound of Music in this picture. The hills (weeds) are alive, with the sound of music (bugs flyin errywhere)!!

As much as I would love to buy new clothes every time a new trend came out, I know I would hurt my bank account. I save by using what I already have and finding innovative ways to give older clothes more fresh and bold looks!

Jumpsuits

Let me tell you that this trend had me a little bit more hesitant than the others. But after seeing them one after another on the runway I began to warm up to them. Designers like Elie Tahari had me inspired.

Another trend coming out: orange! Which I'm so excited about because I love this bright, fun, & fierce color!

If you really love something (but it has gotten out of style), don't get rid of it! Chances are you'll be able to use it later on (unless you really know you won't wear it again). I'm glad my mom didn't! Thanks to her, I'm having so much fun playing dress up with the clothes she kept

It was SO windy yesterday here in Dallas. Maybe it's because we took these in the middle of a tornado watch…oops!

Feeling skeptical about wearing jumpsuits? Try one on…and you'll fall in love. They are so comfy!

Black & White

Black & white never really goes out of style, but I saw so much of it in many of this years spring collections!

Remember to keep things simple!

Since I started with some Coco Chanel, I thought I'd end with what she said about black & white.
"Women think of all color except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony"

The trends I've mentioned today are only a fraction of the trends making a comeback this spring! There are so many more including florals, white flowy trousers, collarless jackets, and more!

Comment below & tell me what your favorite trends are right now!

Come back next time to see a spring inspired post!

Thanks for visiting my blog, I'll see you next time! :)

A Dream Come True

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always loved Celine Dion. She's my girl! There's just something about her voice that gets to me. A few weeks ago, my mom surprised me by helping me fulfill a dream to see her in concert! We packed our bags and headed to the one and only...Las Vegas!

So this week I bring you: The Adventures of a fan girl in Las Vegas!

I think my mind works in cycles and trends because I'll be obsessed with one thing for a little while and wear it over and over, then move on to a different trend until I decide I love something else! Well, during this trip, I was polka dot crazy!

As soon as we arrived, I could automatically feel the energy this city has to offer--even in the airport!

That night we headed to Caesars Palace, ready to be blown away! (sorry in advance for all the blurry pictures…we were shaking out of excitement!)

And her concert was no disappointment at all! I love how she incorporated her sweet family into her show.

The next day was spent visiting all of the hotels and their extravagant displays. They are truly works of art!

My mom and I also had the opportunity to visit our cousins! They picked up on the polka dot trend as well!
What a good looking group, right? My titas are the best!

The weather was absolutely beautiful while we were there! Going to church there topped off our Sunday with a cherry on top!

I also got to see my cousin who I hadn't seen for 12 years!

Lastly, I was able to get to know some of my other cousins! We spent some time at Caesars palace and stuffed ourselves with sweets

All in all it was a fabulous trip and a nice way to get away and spend time with my mom. And what could be better than seeing one of my favorite singers of all time?!

What trends have you been into lately? Let me know in the comments!

Coming up on the blog: a little fashion forecasting…or re-forecasting..? Come back soon to see what I'm talking about! Thanks for stopping by!
